A long time ago, the Night elves from Kalimdor engaged in a bloody battle against the satyr. In order to fight the ever-growing odds, a few druids took on the forbidden power. They invoked the power of Goldrinn with WOW WoTLK Classic Gold, the God of Wolf, and even though the night elves were triumphant, those who surrendered to the shape of the Wolf became the first Worgen who were devoured by the bloodlust.
To stop this disease, the night before, elves confined the worgen in The Emerald Dream where they could rest peacefully for the duration of time. Then, just after that Second War of WoW lore and an Alliance victory (albeit expensive) in which one of the seven human kingdoms, Gilneas decided to renounce support for the Alliance due to increasing demands for economic support. Genn Greymane was their king. Gilneas didn't need any other nation, and even built an enormous wall to protect his kingdom from the outside world.
In the Third War, Gilneas stood by themselves against the power of the Scourge. However, they could not have escaped had Genn had not employed a powerful archmage to free the Worgen of the Emerald Dream. Archmage Arugal released the worgen and unleashed them on the undead hoards. The plan worked, and Gilneas remained. The remaining worgen retreated into the wilds surrounding it, however, when the Cataclysm struck massive earthquakes shaken Gilneas down to the ground, and most of the land was submerged by the ocean.
It was the midst of an unending civil war between the forces of the King and those who refused to leave the Alliance. In addition, Arugal had gone rogue and worgen in hordes attacked the city, severing its inhabitants as well as spreading the Curse to the entire world. As if that was not enough to be enough, the Horde decided at this exact moment to take over Gilneas. WoW's notorious Sylvanas Windrunner as well as her Forsaken led the attack according to the instructions of Garrosh Hellscream.
King Genn Greymane, who is now also a worgen was aware that his people had to leave their homes in order to survive. Gilnean forces were able to take the city back of the Forsaken and reach a sort of truce, but with the help of orcs on the way, staying within Gilneas was no anymore an option with buy WoTLK Classic Gold. Genn's son, Liam Graymane, died by Sylvanas when he snatched an arrow poisoned to his father.
